Top tier MNC with a long established track record currently looking for a Paralegal to join the Hong Kong office and work closely with Senior Management globally.
The Group is seeking a qualified Legal Counsel/Specialist to manage commercial contract lifecycles and procurement agreements, with a specific focus on advising on Indian legal matters impacting Group entities. This role involves extensive drafting, reviewing, and translating of bilingual (English and Chinese) legal and tender documents, alongside cross-functional collaboration with global stakeholders and Chinese counterparties.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Tender Management
Commercial Agreements : Review and analyze business contracts-including standard maritime agreements such as SHIPMAN, CREWMAN, SUPERMAN, and Managers' Undertakings-to identify and mitigate risk deviations.
Non-Disclosure Agreements : Draft, review, and negotiate Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) to protect corporate intellectual property and data.
Tender Review : Analyze complex tender documents (including those drafted in Chinese) to ensure commercial and legal alignment.
Execution & Control : Maintain rigorous version control of legal templates and policies. Prepare execution-ready versions of approved contracts and oversee the formal execution process.
Bilingual Legal Support & Communication
Bilingual Drafting : Draft and prepare comprehensive bilingual documents in both Chinese and English.
Legal Translation : Provide precise mutual translations (English to Chinese and vice-versa) for legal, commercial, and technical documents.
Counterparty Liaison : Act as the primary legal liaison for communications with Chinese counterparties to ensure clarity and compliance.
Advisory & Stakeholder Management
Legal Advisory : Provide actionable legal advice regarding Indian regulatory and legal issues faced by Group companies.
Stakeholder Collaboration : Partner closely with internal departments, including Business Development, EU ETS / FuelEU compliance, and the Newbuilding team, to support strategic initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Education : University degree in Law (LL.B. / BA Law) or equivalent formal legal training.
Experience : 3-5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in corporate law, commercial contracting, or procurement.
Industry Knowledge : Background in the shipping, maritime, or logistics industry is strongly preferred.
Language Skills : Full professional proficiency in English and Chinese (Written and Spoken) is mandatory to handle bilingual legal texts and counterparties.
